How to Order Custom Mylar Bags: Size, MOQ, Artwork & Options
Ready to order custom Mylar bags, but not sure what information your packaging supplier needs?
A common question we receive is:
“How much are custom printed Mylar bags?”
Because every bag is customized, there isn't one standard price. Bag size, structure, quantity, number of designs, zipper type, materials and finishes can all affect the cost.
To get a faster and more accurate quote, here are the key details to prepare.
1. What Product Are You Packing?
Start with the product inside the bag.
For example:
- Gummies and candy
- Snacks
- Coffee
- Powder
- Supplements
- Pre-rolls
- Other dry products
Different products may require different barrier properties, materials and zipper structures.
For food packaging, we can offer structures using an aluminum barrier layer with a food-grade PE inner layer.
It also helps to tell us how much product each bag needs to hold, such as:
1g, 3.5g, 7g, 100 g, 250 g, etc.
Knowing the product and capacity helps us recommend a suitable bag size and structure.
2. What Size Mylar Bag Do You Need?
If you already have existing packaging, simply send us the dimensions.
For example:
100 mm W × 130 mm H + 50 mm bottom gusset
If you're developing new packaging and don't know the size yet, that's fine.
Tell us:
What are you packing, and how much does each bag need to hold?
Based on the product and capacity, we can recommend a suitable size and provide a blank dieline for your designer.
It's better to confirm the bag dimensions before completing the final artwork.
3. Stand-Up Pouch or Flat Pouch?
Next, consider how you want the finished package to be displayed.

Stand-Up Pouch
A stand-up Mylar pouch has a bottom gusset that allows the bag to stand upright after filling.
It's a good option when:
- Products will be displayed on retail shelves
- Front-facing branding is important
- More internal capacity is needed
- You want the package to stand independently
The bottom gusset size will depend on the overall bag dimensions and product capacity.
Flat Pouch
If the bag doesn't need to stand on its own, a flat pouch may be sufficient.
Flat pouches are suitable when:
- The pouch will be placed inside another box
- Products will be displayed flat
- Products will hang on retail hooks
- A simpler bag structure is preferred
A custom hang hole can also be added for retail display.
Not sure which structure to choose?
Tell us how the product will be filled and displayed, and we can recommend a suitable option.
4. How Many Bags Do You Need?
Quantity is one of the main factors affecting custom packaging pricing.
Our MOQ starts from:
500 pcs per design.
If you have multiple designs, please provide both the total quantity and quantity per design.
For example:
Total quantity: 5,000 pcs
Design A: 2,500 pcs
Design B: 2,500 pcs
This is important because producing 5,000 bags with one artwork is different from producing 5,000 bags divided among several designs.
Providing the quantity breakdown from the beginning helps us quote more accurately.
5. Do You Already Have Artwork?
If You Have Finished Artwork
Send us your artwork together with the bag dimensions.
Production-ready or vector files are preferred.
We can review:
- Bag dimensions
- Printing areas
- Colors
- Logo placement
- Cut lines
- Zipper position
- Hang-hole position
- Special finishing areas
If you require spot UV, foil stamping or other special finishes, please indicate which parts of the artwork should receive those effects.
If You Don't Have Artwork Yet
You can still start the project.
Simply send us:
Product + capacity + preferred bag style
We can recommend a suitable bag size and provide a blank dieline.
Your designer can then place the artwork onto the dieline and send the completed file back to us.
6. Regular Zipper or Child-Resistant Zipper?
The zipper structure should also be confirmed before production.
Regular Resealable Zipper
A standard resealable zipper is easy to open and close and is suitable for many everyday products.
Child-Resistant Zipper
For products requiring additional access protection, we can produce custom child resistant Mylar bags with a double-layer CR zipper structure.
The opening method is different from a standard zipper and is designed to provide additional resistance to access by children.
If you're unsure which zipper you need, tell us what you're packing and where the product will be sold so the appropriate packaging requirements can be considered.

7. Choose Your Material
The right material depends on both the product and the appearance you want.
For food packaging, an aluminum barrier layer + food-grade PE inner layer can be used to provide product protection and a food-contact inner surface.
You can also choose different appearances, including:
- Matte
- Glossy
- Holographic
- Metallic
- Clear window
Want Customers to See the Product?
A custom clear window can be added to the bag.
The shape and position of the window can be customized to work with your artwork.
This is useful when product visibility is important.
If stronger light protection is required, however, a full-barrier structure may be more appropriate.
8. Choose Your Printing & Finishing Options
Custom finishes can make specific areas of your packaging stand out.
Popular options include:
Spot UV
Use spot UV to highlight logos, product names, patterns or selected design elements with a glossy contrast.
Hot Foil Stamping
Gold, silver or other foil colors can create a metallic premium effect.
Holographic
Holographic materials create changing colors and reflections under different lighting, helping the packaging attract attention on the shelf.
Soft-Touch Film
Soft-touch lamination gives the bag a smooth, premium tactile feel.
You don't need to use every finish.
Often, one or two well-selected effects can create a cleaner and stronger visual result.

9. Don't Forget the Small Details
A few small structural details can make a big difference in everyday use.
Hang Hole
If the bag will be displayed on retail hooks, we can add a hang hole.
Rounded Corners
Instead of sharp square corners, you can choose rounded corners.
They create smoother edges and help reduce the chance of sharp corners scratching hands during packing, handling and use.

Tear Notch
A tear notch helps customers start opening the pouch more easily.
The tear design should also work correctly with the laminated material structure.
If your existing bags are difficult to tear or the printed layers separate during opening, the bag construction should be reviewed before your next production run.
What Information Should You Send for a Quote?
You don't need to write a complicated RFQ.
You can simply send us:
Product: Gummies
Capacity: 100 g
Bag size: 100 × 130 mm + 50 mm gusset
Bag style: Stand-up pouch
Quantity: 10,000 pcs
Designs: 2 designs, 5,000 pcs each
Zipper: Child-resistant zipper
Material: Aluminum barrier + food-grade PE
Finish: Matte + spot UV
Other options: Hang hole + rounded corners
Artwork: Attached
With this information, we can understand your project quickly and provide a more accurate quotation.
What If You Don't Know the Specifications Yet?
That's completely fine.
You don't need to understand every packaging specification before contacting a supplier.
If you're developing a new package, start by sending us:
What you're packing + required capacity + estimated quantity + number of designs + any special requirements.
We can help determine the suitable bag size, structure and customization options.
Once the dimensions are confirmed, we can provide a blank dieline for your designer to complete the artwork.
Ready to Start Your Custom Mylar Bag Project?
Whether you already have a complete artwork file or are starting with only a product and an idea, we can help you work through the packaging details step by step.
Send us your product, capacity, quantity, number of designs and artwork if available.
